Rick Graley, Bible teacher

Rick Graley has taught Bible studies for nearly thirty years, presenting Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Ezra, Nehemiah, Song of Songs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Jonah, Habakkuk, Zechariah, John, Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Hebrew, James, 1 & 2 Peter, First John and Revelation.  This year he adds Leviticus.

He says, “My teaching style is to read a few verses and then delve into them to find every bit of joy, excitement and wonder that the Holy Spirit gives; sharing parallel scriptures and relevant tangents.  Together, we look at how the written word was relevant to the time in which it was written, how it applied to the people then, and how it applies to us today.  There are many exciting aspects offered in the Greek language that gives insight that the English language does not.  We believe God’s Word is inerrant (without error), living and applicable to everyone, no matter their current situation or perspective.”

Rick encourages questions and discussion during the study.  Questions that can’t be readily answered, he researches and brings to share at the next study.  “A careful reading and study of God’s Word is always rewarding” he says. “It’s a great joy to share the truth with people; it’s very exciting.  I have great enthusiasm for God’s Word, studying and sharing it.”

When asked what the most significant thing is that he’s discovered through teaching God’s Word, he spoke to the overall perspective he has of God’s message.  “What resonates most is God’s grace.  He spent a few chapters discussing creation and the rest of the Bible is assigned to restoring his relationship with man.  In the Bible we find God the creator, God the redeemer, and God the provider.  He is the great Lover of our souls.”

Finally, Rick says, “I believe God has given me the gift of teaching; it is rewarding to be in God’s will for me.”

RICK’S SALVATION STORY: I was “born in the church” — my father was Pastor of whatever church I attended as a child. I knew about Jesus from an early age. Yet, I still had to make my own decision about Jesus. During my teen and young adult years Jesus was pushed to the back, but as maturity came I saw the value of choosing Jesus and invited him into my life. My mid-life season I came to understand better God’s grace and love for me.

Today, life without Jesus is incomprehensible. I have learned just how wonderful and powerful a personal relationship with God is. To know that the penalty for my sins was paid by Jesus and that I am truly forgiven is awesome.
